Late Summer at Nokomis: Slow Mornings Before the Rush
There's a specific kind of morning that only shows up in early August. The light comes in a little softer. The lake is quiet before the paddleboards and pontoons take over. And for a few more weeks, mornings still belong to whoever wakes up early enough to enjoy them.
We've noticed it at the cafe too. Slower orders, longer conversations, people lingering on the patio instead of grabbing a cup and running. It's the kind of pace that won't last much longer, so we've been trying to soak it in while it's still here.
The Last of the Slow Season
Once the school buses start running and the fair takes over the neighborhood's weekends, mornings pick up speed whether we're ready or not. Right now, though, there's still time for a full cup of coffee enjoyed while it's actually hot. Still time to sit outside without checking the clock. We're not in a rush to see that end, but we know it's coming.
What a Slow Morning Looks Like Here
Some mornings are just simple, and that's the whole point.
☕ A cup of drip coffee, taken outside instead of to go.
🌤️ A seat on the patio before it gets crowded.
📖 Something to read, or nothing at all.
🚶 A short walk to the lake afterward, because it's right there.
None of it requires planning. That's kind of the appeal.
Come Sit With Us
If your schedule still has a little give in it, we'd use it. Come in, grab something warm, and let the morning move at its own pace for once. August won't stay slow forever, but this week it still is.
See you at the cafe. ☕
